Tobrade Imperial News Network - The Facts That Matter

Located in Tobra City, The Tobrade Imperial News Network building sits within a plaza built atop the ruins of Prosperity Parks. The station provides updates to the citizens of Tobrade about the general goings on of the planet, primarily success stories regarding Imperial military or bureaucratic processes, the promotion of new business and leisure attractions or smear campaigns aimed at the governing bodies and democratic parties who previously ruled Tobrade. Currently, TINN only broadcasts news updates between 7am-11am, then 5pm-9pm. At all other times the station plays patriotic Imperial orchestral music over inspirational imagery of Imperial military exercises and recruitment advertisements. One of the first major stories which went live to the people of Tobrade was a visit to TINN by Lord Rhôzan, the current Planetary Governor, with the only statement pulled from his visit being, "The people of Tobrade deserve the facts."

Cast:
The main newscasters for TINN are Braithe Riti and Varana Drox, former slaves purchased from Zenith Enterprises who were awarded their freedom upon signing on to work for TINN in perpetuity. Additionally, the station's holo producer and camera specialist, Garten Klar was freed under the same contractual agreement. Finally, the station's beleaguered weather person, only ever referred to as River is a Rattataki slave who is often seen reporting from the most windswept and atmospherically vibrant locales. As time passes, viewers cannot be certain if River is a male or female Ratattaki and due to the high risks involved in reporting from the fringe territories of Tobrade's acid rain stricken wastelands, some aren't certain that it's even the same person.

Prosperity Parks

After declaring victory in the most recent election, Lesum Utteridge decided to gift the three larger cities (Tobra, Pikin and Krathorne) with beautiful flora imported from Damolla. The parks were built in the centrre of each city, requiring many homes and places of work to be demolished to make space for them. Some citizens gave up their homes happily out of patriotism and understanding of the prosperity parks importance for the planet as a whole, whilst others seethed in resentment at the loss of homes they had lived in for generations.

The imported flora does not thrive without assistance however, requiring substantial investment to maintain the perfect climate from the exotic Damollan plants. When opposing voices mention this, they are met with the suggestion that closing the parks would be denying the children and workers the joy of nature. Do they really want to make babies cry?

The parks are of course guarded by security who remove any unseemly or unwanted visitors - including crying babies.

Tobrade Imperial News Network: Reports

TINNreporters.webp

OOC: This thread covers news updates happening on Tobrade which are reported directly by TINN. This means that some of the information may not be entirely accurate. If you wish to have any of your character’s deeds on Tobrade reported in news updates they can be ICly reported to Rhozan as a direct request, or sent OOCly if your character’s activities would catch attention on the planet. All information reported in this thread can be assumed to be publicly accessible.

Braithe Riti (left) and Varana Drox (right) sit so surrounded by red light that it gives the appearance of an Imperial warship on high alert. Their demeanour is always professional, however, Braithe appears to be allowed more freedom to be flippant and jovial, while Varana always seems cold and serious. Despite this, the pair have decent, mandated on-screen chemistry, with Braithe often taking the lead when reporting celebrations, events or investment news and Varana covering Imperial military successes on the planet. Neither report on-location stories and often use media inserts captured by local security forces or private holo-device footage which has been submitted by the public or otherwise obtained.

Report 1: OOC date 07/08/24

[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Braithe: "The Warden of Low Harn, Qute Blokk has arranged for a special collaboration of private security forces in the coming weeks to bring greater strategic cohesion to the region. Representatives from Elite Reclaim, Pale Moon Protections, The Red Sun Legion and more will be arriving to inspect the training grounds and establish the first Low Harn Hunt! More details to come in the following days. In other Low Harn News, our boys in black have been making sure that citizens in the region can sleep soundly."

Varana: "That’s right Braithe, Imperial forces have detained multiple insurgents and recovered hostages safely thanks to the heroic actions of one Captain Arthur Milo."

Braithe: "Innocent civillians? These barbaric sympathisers have no shame."

Varana: "Due to the tactical considerations of Low Harn’s Warden and the heroics of Captain Milo, no Imperial citizens were harmed in the recovery and all plots to disrupt civilian life were thwarted. When asked for comment, Warden Blokk has this to say..."

[Although it has been disguised with as much editing trickery as possible, Qute's soundbite doesn't sound entirely natural, as if it may have been stitched together.]

Qute: "The valued citizenry have flourished under Imperial rule, the brave soldiers of the Empire have already foiled several attacks.”

Varana: "When asked for comment, Captain Milo added..."

[The text of the quote appears on the holo beside an image of Captain Milo as Varana reads it aloud.]

Varana: “I am proud to be of service to the Empire. Though the people of Tobrade have suffered, we know that under new management the planet and its people will prosper. We are still going through battle data to analyse where we can address hardships experienced by the populace. I, and the Empire, can ensure the people of Tobrade that they can look past Republic propaganda and embrace a future free from the shackles of the Damollan elite.”
notdian.png

[Pause for dramatic effect.]

Varana: "Patriots all."

Braithe: "In investment news, an agreement between the Lord-Governors of Tobrade and Damolla has led to much of Damolla's waste materials, such as agricultural chemicals, metals and mechanical parts, now being delivered to Tobrade for processing. So impressed were the Damollans at recent efforts to clean up Tobrade's environment that they welcomed the opportunity to make use of our flourishing new recycling industry."

Varana: "Including the dredging of Tobrade's waterways and the new sources of food and clean water created by the Empire, no longer will our people be left to languish in squalor by greedy Republic merchants."

Braithe: "Absolutely, Varana. The newly constructed Port Pikin has seen a surge of new commerce in the region. Perennial Solutions has announced that, with this support, they’re looking to branch out further into research and development now that their goods can more quickly be moved off-world. Perennial have also reported record savings in material costs after the Damolla-Tobrade Waste Reclamation Initiative. Furthermore, a new warehouse district has been added to Port Iosa, quelling long held complaints from port officials that Tobrade's busiest spaceport was struggling to keep up with the trade demands. This uptick in infrastructure spending primes Tobrade to take its place as a major manufacturer within the Zula Dominion. I think we can all take pride in that."

Varana: "That we can Braithe. That we can."

Braithe: "Next up, how well do you know your neighbours? Do you have a Republic sympathiser living next door? Five signs you've got a blue, after the break…"

Report 2: OOC date 06/10/24

[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Braithe: "In exciting local news, Asura's Orphanage will be hosting an open fundraiser which is likely to draw prominent figures from across the Dominion. The Day of the Sun and Moon offers an opportunity to support the venture and improve the number of leisure activities available at the facility. Maybe the next Star Sportsball player will be from this unlikely beginning?"

Varana: "That may be. In interplanetary news, Yankun has drawn attention due to recent land disputes between two Imperial Domuums. The Lord Governor has issued a statement in support of the Dekidis Domuum, who are scheduled to make a formal visit to Tobrade in the near future."

Braithe: "Ruben Dekidis certainly has a mind for media."

Varana: "That he does, Braithe. Statements have been issued from many of the Empire's most illustrious Sith in support of the Dekidis Domuum's land claim. Thus far things have remained civil between the Domuums."

Braithe: "Let's hope it can be resolved quickly."

Varana: "Following in the wake of the Lord Governor's statement, several business leaders across Tobrade have also echoed their own support for the Dekidis Domuum. One Tygar Oss, an overseer from Perennial Solutions, Pikin, had this to say..."

[The feed cuts to a holo of Tygar Oss, a busy factory floor in the background.]

Tygar Oss: "It seems only right that the Dekidis Domuum get what they're due. They're true Imperial Patriots, the lot."
[The holo feed ends abruptly, as though Tygar had more to say.]

Braithe:
"In other news, locals are reporting an increase in alien birthrates across Low Harn and the industrial distrcts of Tobra City. Tobrade welcomes these new additions to our bustling planet, those little tikes have an exciting future ahead of them. Speaking of exciting futures, new ground was broken in the south of Tobra City, a so far undisclosed infrastructural development which will no doubt serve to increase productivity and offer exciting new investment opportunities for local and Dominion entrepreneurs..."

Report 3: OOC date 21/10/24

[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Braithe: "Swift justice was delivered this week across Tobrade. Sith Qana Vedra led a contingent of Lanvarok troops in a series of raids, targeting individuals with gang affiliations in surgical strikes in Low Harn and Tobra City."

Varana: "Notable criminals such as Gorak Kell, Bykkal and Ykarr, all of whom were actively wanted for questioning by Imperial forces in connection with murder, smuggling, assault and racketeering charges, faced Imperial justice. While attempts to detain these dangerous criminals were made, most refused to surrender."

Braithe: "Footage was submitted from the attempted arrest of Gorak Kell which some viewers may find disturbing."

['Body-cam' footage of Lanvarok troopers breaching an apartment in Tobra City began. Gorak was pictured rushing out of view and when the footage catches up to him, small arms blaster fire begins to pepper the Lanvarok position. There's a hard cut forward through the lengthy exchange to Gorak laying face down on the floor, riddled with blaster wounds.]

Varana: "It is important that all citizens of Tobrade remain vigilant. If you or anyone you know has become embedded in criminal activity, know that it is your duty to come forward with information."

Braithe: "This continues the Lord Governor's crackdown on crime, with further reports that arrests have been made in Low Harn connected to pro-Republic extremists."

Varana: "If there are any of you 'gangsters' watching this broadcast, TINN wants to remind you that there's nowhere to hide. The Empire will always prevail. The people of Tobrade will not suffer in silence."

Braithe: "That's right Varana."

[There's a sudden interruption to the broadcast, an audio sting and a holo-graphic rotating in place reading 'Breaking News'.]

Braithe: "I've just had word of some rather serious news, Varana. In a shocking update to the ongoing Yankun Domuum disputes..."

[A holo image of Jellus Valtorin, the fattest, greediest looking one that could be found flashes across the screen while Braithe continues.]

Braithe: "... The Valtorin Domuum has manipulated market trends in attempts to cut off Tobrade from critical medical supplies."

[There is a very sombre moment of silence from the otherwise upbeat and casual Braithe, his expression being that of one stunned into silence. Varana interjects.]

Varana: "There will be more coverage of the specific shortages to follow. People of Tobrade are asked to remain calm while while Imperial authorities assess the situation further."

[Braithe seems to regain his composure somewhat but appears sincerely rattled, no longer looking at the teleprompter.]

Braithe: "The Valtorin Domuum has decided to escalate the Yankun Dispute... to fuel their greed by trying to deny over three million Tobradians access to lifesaving medical care. The Lord Governor has yet to issue a statement..."

Report 4: OOC date 28/10/24

[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Varana: "A dangerous criminal, known as 'The Trickster', has finally been brought to justice. The Warden of Low Harn has, over the past few months, organised with the Special Operations group and local Imperial forces - particulary Captain Arthur Milo - to purge crime from the Tobrade.

Braithe: "The Warden surrounded the facility that the "Trickster's" organisation had made it's home, a den of corrupt thieves and malcontents with no moral character to speak of. The Special Operations Group and local Imperial forces were able to resolve and disperse the crowd in the area peacefully before the raid began."

Varana: "Local patriot, Captain Arthur Milo, led his group into the bowels of the facility and put an end to the Trickster himself; the man attempted to hold vital Tobradian infrastructure hostage in his final moments, begging to be allowed to escape. The combined SOG and local forces were able to end this dangerous criminal's plot before any innocent lives could be harmed. The Warden had this to say..."

[Holo footage of Qute in close-up, the footage occasionally cut in places and skipped forward as if it had been trimmed down.]

Qute: "Whilst I regret that the Trickster himself wasn't captured alive, we have his right hand man who helped facilitate many of his dastardly plots. Let it be a message to all that threaten the stability of the Governors rule."

[The holo ends.]

Braithe: "We can all take pride in the knowledge that the Lord Governor and the Warden of Low Harn work tirelessly to maintain the security of our fair planet."

Varana: "In other news, the medical supply shortage which Tobrade faces was quickly assisted by Whylam's own Lord Kholn, Lord Governor of Damolla. Her assistance and compassion for the people of Tobrade will not soon be forgot. Nor will the circumstances which caused the shortage in the first place.

Braithe: "Lord Governor Rhôzan issued several statements regarding the shortage and has pledged to invest in Tobrade's medical infrastructure in the near future."

Varana: "Time will tell how deeply affected Tobrade's supply has been, but the Lord Governors of the Whylam system have shown a unified front agaisnt those who would attempt to sabotage the Dominion's industry."

Braithe: "Quite so. Tobradian citizens have been peacefully protesting the Valtorin's interruption, with some remarking upon similarities to the former Prosperity Party's obsession with credits over lives.

Varana: "Tobrade withstands and the Empire Prevails."

Braithe: "Up next... bugs and how to cook them! This important source of protein is both tasty and free range!"

Report 5: OOC date 14/02/25

[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Varana: "In breaking news, The Lord Governor gave a public statement in which he decreed today a Planetary holiday."

Braithe: "That's right Varana, to mark the victory of the Dekidis Domuum over the despicable Valtorin and to commemorate the loss of Imperial lives as a result of their sabotage, today will now be known as Purity Day and that all workers should except some well-earned time off to spend with their families."

Varana: "Local Patriots have already begun celebrations by gathering in the streets to the sounds of melodic operatics played from Imperial speakers, lighting Purity Day fireworks and burning effigies of Jellus Valtorin."

[Holo footage of rapturous celebrations and certainly not riots from all over Tobra City are shown, erupting spontaneously. The effigies in question looked to be made of scrap and refuse but thet all had one thing in common, all were comically large and spherical.]

Braithe: "The Lord Governor's statement included heartfelt thanks to all those who keep Tobrade's gears and cogs moving towards Imperial supremacy."

Varana: "Unfortunately, security and medical workers have been exempt from the half-day of leave provided by the new holiday due to their status as essential for the safety of Tobrade's citizens."

Braithe: "It's all love now, Varana. How are you going to be spending this special day?"

Varana: "..."

Braithe: "Terrific. Well, from us here at TINN, Happy Purity Day, stay indoors and make it one to remember."

[Braithe winks theatrically and the broadcast excerpt ends.]

Report 6: OOC date 07/07/25

[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Varana: "In breaking news, upon the Lord Governor's return to Tobrade last night, Imperial citizens held demonstrations in major population centres across the planet."

Braithe: "That's right Varana, although few details have yet to be released as to the exact reasons behind the celebration, much like the Dekidis Victory on Yankun, the people of Tobrade had their patriotic spirits roused."

Varana: "Bonfires were lit to commemorate fallen Imperial troops, rations and libations were provided by local garrisons and, citizens and soldiers alike joined arms in silence for several moments before festivities commenced in earnest. Those who misunderstood the celebrations as the beginning of riots were quickly apprehended."

[Holo footage of quiet moments of contemplation from weary citizens around large fires were displayed, accentuated by the slow rise of Imperial operatic music, increasing in intensity.]

Braithe: "The Lord Governor's statement began in mournful reverence, offering thanks to all Imperials whose dutiful service brings the Dominion each hard-earned victory it enjoys. Several Sith graced us with further recognition of the celebration. We now have a segment where those Sith offer their messages, in their own words. From one of the most recent arrivals, Sith Incipient Deena Kharib had this to say..."

[In contrast to the otherwise crisp footage offered by TINN broadcasts, a slightly grainy holo-recording, clearly recorded by hand, of Incipient Kharib began to play.]

Kharib: "There is but one question that ought to be on everyone's lips now: 'Am I beneath attention of the Sith?' The answer is 'No'. Keep it in mind whenever your neighbours, seniors or scions suggests your masters 'see not' or 'care not'. Because we do see. And we do care."

[The holo-vid ends. And a purely audio recording of Sith Mara Virnasi begins to play over inspiring imagery of Imperial troops on parade, with her name in bold at the bottom of the screen.]

Virnasi: The bonfires lit across Tobrade last night stand as a symbol that we will not tolerate this rot. It will be burned from the annals of history and purged from every world. Heresy cannot be allowed to breathe, to taint the Empire's ideals and the day shall stand as a day of sacrifice and triumph."

Braithe: "Sith Calian Tarr, Apprentice to the Lord Seneschal, had this to say..."

[Another short holo-vid section began of Calian addressing the holocam directly.]

Calian: "Yesterday we caught our enemies off-guard and dealt a crippling blow to an important logistical outpost that'll take them a long time to both rebuild and recover their numbers. While the celebrations are well-deserved, let us also honour the memory of those that fell in the operation by giving our enemies a swift end."

[The segment ended.]

Braithe: The Lord Governor's Apprentices, Qute Blokk and Linnavi Dyze, provided further comment.

[A holo displaying Qute then played.]

Blokk: "Last night was a day of joy as those wish to do harm to our great dominion have been removed, and the good peoples of these systems now kept safe. The peace and prosperity of these systems is always a cause of celebration, rejoice people of the Dominion."

[Another holo-vid played, as Linnavi spoke her voice was sombre, sincere. It was perfect, just the right amount of tremble to seem emotional, but strong enough to not come off as weak. It almost -too- perfect.]

Linnavi: "Today we honour the sacrifice of the Zula's Own Light Infantry. I was priveleged to call many of them my friends. But while we mourn, we also have to remember why they died. For you. For us. Just as you lit the bonfires, don't let their light die in your hearts. Thank you all for performing your duty with such joy and pride. It really warms my spirit to see."

[The holo-vid ends.]

Varana: "We are deeply grateful and honoured that so many Sith would take note of the people of Tobrade."

Braithe: "We are truly fortunate."

Varana: "The celebrations in Pikin seemed to escalate as the night went on. Local officials reported that it remained within acceptable parameters, but it lacked the slightly more sombre reverence of other displays."

Braithe: "Those Pikineers love to party. My wife and I lit our own fire in the garden as a personal celebration. How about you Varana?"

Varana: "I attended the bonfire outside the station, Braithe. I stayed until sunrise and my heart swelled to see so many Tobradians come out in support of our most recent Imperial victory and commemorate the loss of those brave men and women who give their lives on our behalf."

Braithe: "Incredible. Well, that's it from us here, we'll keep you all updated as further details are released as to the nature of this most recent victory, but we can all be certain that the scale and scope of this impromptu celebration gives us yet more reason to be grateful to be Imperial."

Varana: "Glory to the Empire."

[Braithe suddenly holds a hand to his ear and there is a moment of silence as he listens to his comlink.]

Braithe: "Hold on... wait a moment... This just in, the Lord Governor has just cut short his visit to Tobrade to lead rescue efforts on the Imperial world of Tharkoss, as a result of the events which inspired last night's celebration. An Imperial Official close to Lord Rhôzan reports that, while many Imperial lives have been lost, our Lord Governor refuses to leave behind those that may still remain while there is hope that some yet live. We'll continue to update you on the situation as it develops."

Varana: "An inspiration to all of us."

Report 7: OOC date 15/08/25

[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Varana: "Today we have a pair of special broadcasts for you."

Braithe: "That's right Varana, let's start on the lighter note. Junk, is it what's in your trunk or does it belong, in the ring?"

[Braithe paused to feign incredulity.]

Braithe: Those of you who caught the live broadcast already know what I'm talking about, but for those who don't, here's a few clips to get your mouth watering for, Junk Wars!"

[The highlight reel begins with the splash of the TINN logo, then the Junk Wars logo bursts through it in a spray of virtual cogs and gears. The scrap then slowly gathers and pieces itself back together into the Frontier Cybernetics logo with the text 'Sponsored by...' above it.

The recording then plays a clip where Mini Scarlett, a small mouse droid with a blaster much too large for its chassis, is torn to shreds by a spider droid with a jaunty, and slightly dented hat controlled by Mara, Lancer. A small assault droid, Metal Block, joins in destroying the poor little mouse droid and it breaks in half with high pitched beeping as the host warns everyone to take cover. Mini Scarlett explodes, sending pieces everywhere. Shrapnel hits one of the audience members in the eye, burrowing deep into the socket. The woman screams in agony but barely anyone cares. The logo for Frontier Cybernetics is shown again on screen as blood and eye-matter begin to slip out, both censoring the gore and promoting the replacement.

A second highlight shows the spider droid lifting up Dimost's gonk droid and preparing a throw, as the crowd chants 'Gonk! Gonk! Gonk!', followed by gasps as the spider droid suddenly lets it go and charges the mouse droid. The third and final highlight replays the ending fight between Catyn's SL4M B0T and Lancer with the latter clutching victory in a dramatic finish. The TINN logo then returns, making way for Varana and Braithe seated behind their newscaster desk.]

Varana: "Gonk, indeed."

Braithe: "Yes it was cog-based-carnage as the first of hopefully many Junk Wars commenced with the Lord Governor and Warden of Low Harn in attendance as special guests."
Varana: "On that note, the return of the Lord Governor's private security forces, from their evacuation of Vel’trass. Regional Imperial coverage of the evacuation referred to the efforts of Lanvorok a resounding success."

Braithe: "And I think we have some footage of those brave men and women assisting Imperial forces in the recovery of civillians..."

[A segment begins with clearly 'borrowed' footage from several other Imperial broadcast networks. Only the best highlights have been chosen, with Lanvarok: Homefront in their red and gold armour taking centre stage. Footage of desperate last-stands against waves of oncoming hordes, at least implied hordes, were cut together with imagery of the heavily armoured troopers distributing food, water and aid to injured civilians.

Although the majority of the holo was legitimate, TINN had cut together additional footage that, to the discerning eye, was clearly staged. This included the otherwise rambunctious and frequently insubordinate Lanvarok: Vanguard standing carrying gurneys and medical load-lifters of injured civilians with uncharacteristic care and empathy. The otherwise heavy-handed Lanvarok: Judgement were also given a more sympathetic lens, digging people out of wreckage that looked suspiciously similar to Tobra City's own Scraplands district. Everything had at least been spliced together with the real Imperial broadcasts to give it enough legitimacy for the average citizen to believe. Exact locations, dates, times, etc were omitted, this was only the news after all.]

Medium PR Campaign

Braithe: "Powerful stuff."

Varana: "It truly makes you proud to be a citizen of the Empire. That the Lord Governor has such deep care for the sanctity of Imperial life is something we should not, cannot take for granted. To know in our hearts that he would deploy his own forces to save us from such a terrible fate, well, it keeps me warm at night."

[There was an altogether far too long pause from Braithe.]

Braithe: "Very powerful stuff. The bold men and women of Lanvarok have returned to their host planets to assist other Planetary Governors throughout the Dominion with local security needs, and remember, you can still catch the Junk Wars holos in full at your preferred holo-vid retail service. That's all from us today at TINN, bringing you the facts that matter."

Report 8: OOC date 27/08/25

[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Braithe: "Breaking news today as an explosion rocked the neighbourhood of Wielweld early this morning."

Varana: "We now go live to our newest on-location reporter, Nod Durbon. Over to you, Nod."

[The holo feed switches to the reporter, Nod Durbon, standing amongst the wreckage of a warehouse, smoke billows from piles of scrap metal around him in the background.]

Nod: "Thanks Varana, I'm standing here in Wielweld, Dtuhun district, where the mishandling of some volatile substances led to an explosion in the early hours of this morning. Although the explosion was many hours ago, fires have raged through the night. Local Imperial elements and stalwart citizens have been fighting the blaze to control the spread. So far, almost half of the factories within the neighbourhood have been forced to close until the emergency can be brought under control. Imperial officials have said that those unable to commute through Wielweld today are asked to contact their closest industrial foreman to exchange shifts until things settle down."

[The shot goes back to Braithe in the stuidio briefly.]

Braithe: "Has anyone been hurt, Nod?"

[Back to Nod.]

Nod: "Thankfully there have been no casualties or major injuries, Braithe. Though, the fate of the inciting factory worker is still unknown."

[An image of a Zabrak factory worker briefly appears on the feed in a small box next to Nod.]

Nod: "Var Biern was the only one working in this area overnight, but Imperial forces are still waiting for things to die down before deploying in-depth forensics."

[The angle briefly flicks back to Varana in the stuidio.]

Varana: "Is there any chance this was an act of sabotage?"

[Nod looks very put on the spot as the shot flicks back to him.]

Nod: "N-no Varana, this has been officially designated as an industrial accident."

[Nod's feed is cut sharply and a wide angle on Braithe and Varana in the studio returns.]

Braithe: "Well at least no-one was hurt."
Varana: "But an important message has been sent by this incident, Braithe. Every being, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, needs to remain vigilant in their duties. The Empire prevails because proud, loyal Tobradians do proud and honest work, every day."

Braithe: "That's right. If you see anything at work that you think is suspicious, or a colleague who's handling hazardous materials in a way you think is unsafe, we urge you to contact the number on screen now."

[The broadcast ends after the number is displayed for a solid five minutes of airtime with the usual swelling operatic music in the background.]

Report 9: OOC date 14/10/25
[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Braithe: "Today marks the opening of the Tobra City Stock Exchange and what a day it was. Traders from near and far were desperate to get a look at the new state of the art facility and put their credits on the market. I can't say I understand all this talk of percentages and returns, what about you Varana?"

Varana: "Not at all. But that's why have a guest in the studio to celebrate this monumental occasion."

Braithe: "Right you are Varana, a guest who for some of you will be a familiar face. Host of the hit holo-series Crazy Credits, long-time investment buff and fund manager Xim Vesser."

[The holo feed switches to the Xim Vesser on a seperate news desk from Varana and Braithe surrounded by neon stock tickers, graphs and datapads stacked in large piles around him. He has a clipped and imperious accent with the tone of someone who is always on the verge of raising their voice into a shout.]

Xim: "Might I just begin by saying what an absolute pleasure it is to be here on Tobrade. In my most recent publication, Dominion Dividends and Divesting, I covered a lot of the most interesting investment opportunities and Tobrade was near the top of the list."

Braithe: "What took the top spot?"

Xim: "Well, Zula IV of course. It's the hub of everything going on in the Dominion. Safe, clean, well-organised, and the DCA make sure everything stays in check. There's no better place to put your credits if you're looking for secure long-term investment."

Varana: "Zula IV is the glorious seat of power that the Dominion deserves."

[Braithe nods along with Varana's sentiment but he does give her a look, her constant pro-Imperial non sequiturs always giving him a moment of pause.]

Braithe: "I doubt anyone would disagree with that."

Xim: "But, if you're talking about short-term investments or perhaps, higher risk speculative investment strategies, the rest of the Dominion really leaves you spoiled for choice."

Braithe: "Is that right?"

Xim: "I hardly imagine we have the time to go through everything in such a short time, Braithe, and of course none of this is to be considered investment advice."

Braithe: "I think our viewers understand the risk involved with this sort of thing, Xim. Let's hear it!"

[Xim's face looked to be straining into a deeper red as he took a breath to begin his analysis. Shots of the bustling Tobra City Stock Exchange were intercut with Xim's segment.]

Xim: "Tobrade's got one of the faster growing economies in the Dominion at present, with the recent population influx and the Lord Governor's focus on droid and mining infrastructure support lending to that in a fairly substantial way, if you were looking to set down roots here in anything in the resource extraction or manufacturing sectors, I'd say you'd be looking at a safe bet, find yourself something in silver, gold or copper for a start, then maybe start looking at the more military-focused materials like your durite, the Dominion is absolutely chock-full of resource rich planets and Tobrade's the place to get the equipment for any kind of extracting you plan on doing, I even hear that it has extended to deep-sea drilling on Ntari."

[Xim takes what can only be described as a half-breath before continuing.]

Xim: "Damolla, a planet I don't think anyone would take great offence in my calling the slightly prettier twin to Tobrade is a biomedical and scientific hotbed, while Tobrade's got the guns, Damolla's got the germs, breeding animals and people as fast as it can, medical science and prospective genetic sciences are deeply interesting markets if you're considering something long term, if not, the more immediate interest would be the clean energy sector, Damolla's air is fresh, the water is clean, let's keep it that way by putting our credits in the right places, let's invest in a brighter tomorrow the right way, and, dirty power is nothing but a dead end on Damolla, that's for damn sure.

[Braithe looks as if he's about to speak but another half-breath from Xim doesn't give him any room to do so.]

Xim: "Then we've got Ixarum, interesting ball of dust that one, recently got a new Lord Governor who's to my knowledge had a good track record for leading colonies out past the far edges of Dominion space, we like that, we like a leader who's proven they can keep things well-oiled, doesn't matter how nice the speeder looks if it won't get you there on time after all, military hub -of course- part of the extensive networks of Imperial control that run throughout the Dominion in the best possible way, wow, what a planet, I mean really the fact that anyone lives there at all is a bit of a surprise, but even though it might be light on industry, the troops need support too you know, cantinas, casinos, whatever it is soldiers do to blow off steam, why not give them a helping hand and put some credits where your mouth is, you say you're a patriot but have you ever bought an Imperial trooper a drink?"

[Varana looks deeply perplexed for a moment as if something Xim said was about to spark an existential crisis before Braithe cuts in.]

Braithe: "You really do know your stuff, Xim. I think we might try to have you on more often, I think our viewers would love to hear more about what's going on around the Dominion so that they can make the most out of their credits."

Xim: "The market's got nowhere to go but up, Braithe. I'm just here trying to make a couple of credits for your viewers, you know, these planets on the fringe of the Dominion really do offer us a great look at what's to come for future expansions, I mean..."

[Braithe cuts in more forcefully this time, stopping Xim in his tracks.]

Braithe: "I don't doubt it, Xim. "

Braithe: "Happy Unity Day, citizens of Tobrade! We had quite a show on Unity Day's eve, didn't we Varana?"

Varana: "That's right, Braithe. The Lord Governor spared no expense on a lavish fireworks display to signify the beginning of festivities in Tobra City."

Braithe: "It was real spectacular stuff, at least the view from my penthouse."

Varana: "Unfortunately, there were some minor disruptions to proceedings. Each district was given allowances to join in with the display, but, those responsible for Jiaka's contributions seem to have been somewhat overzealous."

Braithe: "Nothing to worry about, though, a few mis-fires here and there. Thankfully, we have reports that no Imperial citizens were harmed during the incident."

Varana: "Meanwhile, the rest of the city enjoyed their displays responsibly and the entire night's sky was lit up in deep reds and oranges."

Braithe: "Reminds me of the night the Dekidis Domuum triumphed on Yankun."

Varana: "Speaking of, the upcoming union between Imerne Dekidis and Malkor Laezhar should provide yet more spectacular displays."

Braithe: "Who'll be wearing what, I wonder? We'll keep you all up to date as details emerge, but for now, Happy Unity Day!"

Varana: "Glory to the Empire!"

[Broadcast excerpt begins.]

Braithe: "Today we have a special report from Xim Vesser regarding some changes to Tobradian law that should give viewers a deep sigh of relief. Xim?"

Xim: "Thanks Braithe. Today we see a monumental agreement passing between our Lord Governor Rhôzan and Lord Governor Xul of the Ixarum system. The Tobrade-Ixarum Accord should see a more relaxed market state for the foreseeable future."

Braithe: "So what exactly does this accord mean for the average citizen?"
Xim: "I think we'll see a rapid decline in cost for imported goods and a stimulated export market as a result of the accord."

Braithe: "What took so long to see this change happen?"

Xim: "Hard to say. I think it's fairly obvious that there were some deep political tensions going on at multiple levels of this issue. While I don't have any specific information regarding what changed, it was clear things were coming to a boil."

Varana: "This accord was said to have come to pass due to many days of long negotiation between the Lords. It's clear that both sides wanted what was best for the Dominion, and the Empire, at large."

[Braithe nods along with Varana's sentiment, there's a tension in the studio that is palpable, each word and statement said with hesitation. They sometimes paused to read their prompters a few times before letting the words be vocalised.]

Braithe: "I doubt anyone would disagree with that."

Xim: "Whatever it was that changed, or whatever agreements were made in that room, we can't know for certain. But, I echo Varana's statement. These things take time, hundreds if not thousands of Imperials work tirelessly to make sure that our markets are robust. Physical security is paramount, but without market security, we leave ourselves exposed."

Braithe: "Is that right?"

[Xim lets out a small, hesitant chuckle.]

Xim: "I'm sure our viewers would be fast asleep if I was to go into every detail and nuance, Braithe. But, to put it simply, the Lord Governors have come to an agreement that serves the people of the Dominion and assures their security on multiple levels. The stock exchange buzzer is going to be a little louder tomorrow morning, that's for sure!"

Braithe: "Security is of the utmost importance to all of us here at TINN."

[Braithe's posture changes as he begins his next segment staring straight down the barrel of the camera.]

Braithe: "But, is your safety being threatened? Is your neighbour a criminal? Reports of an explosion in the Wielweld district of Tobrade have been tied to an increase in Zabrak aggression. Anyone who sees suspicious Zabrak activity in their place of work should notify-"

Report 12: OOC date 13/04/26
[Broadcast excerpt begins.]
Braithe: "Today we have a special announcement from Tobrade's own Lord Governor Rhôzan. We now go live* to downtown Atiria, Tobra City."

[The Lord Artificer stands on a stage constructed atop the stairs to the Tobra City Stock Exchange overlooking a large plaza. The wide camera angles show rows of combat droids facing out towards the crowd, which is made up of both regular citizens and Imperial troopers. The turnout for the speech appears gargantuan, the crowd filling the plaza and even spilling out into the nearby alleys and streets. The Lord is bedecked in finery, purple, black and gold armour across all but his face, which on this rare occasion is on full view to counter any rumour that may arise that he is in poor health. His somewhat ghoulish appearance may do more to confirm it than deny it.]

Lord Rhôzan: "Today I come before you to announce that my talents are required elsewhere. The enemies of the Empire have become bold and I am to be the panacea to their hubris."

[There is a brief murmur from the crowd. Rhôzan runs a hand through his hair as he looks out. There's a clear moment of acknowledgement on his face, readjusting and largely ignoring the notes ahead of him for the remainder of the speech.]

Lord Rhôzan: "To ensure the security of all planets within the Dominion, my duties must be performed within the seat of the Empire. While I take this brief leave of absence, know this, the people of Tobrade shall be represented. This is not only a matter of security, but presents an opportunity for greater economic stability and connection to the ancestral homeworlds of the Sith."

[There is some motion in the crowd, some excitement, even approval, but not too much approval.]

Lord Rhôzan: "Know that you will not be abandoned in my absence. I have deliberated much on whose hands are best suited to carry the weight of responsibility for Tobrade's continued growth and security. Most of you will be aware that Little Sister, our neighbouring system, was recently appointed with a new governor. Since that time, we have seen a monumental gain in resources to bolster Tobrade's many industries. These close economic ties have only deepened the respect that I have for its governor, Lord Zazriel."

[Lord Zazriel appears from the sidelines, stepping to be on Rhôzan's left.]

Lord Rhôzan: "I know that I leave this planet, and the successes that have been accomplished here being among the achievements I am most proud of, in the most capable hands."

[There is applause from the crowd and Lord Rhôzan steps aside briefly to allow Zazriel to speak at the podium. Lord Zazriel steps forward. Dressed in a dark high-collared tunic with a weighty cape falling down along his shoulders, trailing behind him. Across his chest, a pin of the imperial insignia in a light metal.]

Lord Zazriel: “Thank you, Lord Rhôzan.”

[There is a tense pause as the crowd anticipate what Lord Zazriel has to say.]

Lord Zazriel: “Rest assured, you will find me a most attentive steward in your Lord Governor’s absence. Oft in times of transition uncertainty takes root… cast that aside now.”

[While there is an occasional sceptical glance from within the crowd, a majority are nodding.]

Lord Zazriel: “Tobrade is not a world in need of a great promise. It has seen much growth under Lord Rhôzan, defining itself as a pillar of the Zula Dominion. And it will continue to follow this example.”

[Lord Zazriel inclines his head, stepping back from the centre of the stage. Rhôzan retakes the podium for a moment in what seems like the addition of a final comment.]

Lord Rhôzan: "I give Lord Zazriel my full support in the protection of Tobrade, acting as its temporary warden until my return."

[As Rhôzan moves to step away from the podium, he stops, as if something is occuring to him in the moment, turning back to take his place once more before the crowd, his voice cuts through the applause.]

Lord Rhôzan: "And to any who might attempt to exert their influence upon Tobrade in my brief adjournment, this is my world. The people of Tobrade will allow for no substitution. This world, which has suffered under the yoke of greed and false promise of the Republic, was given salvation by the Empire. It is by my hand that salvation is administered."

[Rhôzan raises his gnarly metal claw into the air and punctuates his sentence by closing it into a fist, bringing the crowd into a fervor. The Lord's voice raises naturally to a more commanding tone.]

Lord Rhôzan: "And it is by my hand that ruin will be delivered to any who stands against me. Tobrade will accept no pretender."

[Rhôzan looks upwards towards the sky and the camera pans to observe the Vigilance Station drifting in orbit overhead.]

Lord Rhôzan: "My reach, is, limitless! Tnuta an Tobrade, Tnuta an ri Dominion!"

[Rhôzan slams his fist against the podium as the chant begins. There is an uproar of support within the crowd as Rhozan takes one last long look out towards the city. He then turns to depart with Lord Zazriel. The broadcast excerpt ends.]
*The speech delivered is almost certainly not live. Additionally, many of the shots throughout and musical accompaniment frame the speakers as commanding and powerful as well as establish a constant sense agreement and support for the Lord Governor. The truth of the event may not be exactly as depicted.
