Siege of Jiaka District

A consolidated report of the escalation within Tobra City’s Jiaka District.

In the temporary absence of the Governor of Tobrade, Lord Rhôzan, stewardship of Tobrade was transferred to Lord Zazriel. What began as a deployment of combat droids into the Jiaka District as an increased security measure has since spiralled.

Over the course of several days, Jiaka has descended into open unrest. Anti-Imperial resistance, guerilla attacks, criminal retaliation and civilian displacement have transformed the district into an active conflict zone under full military lockdown.
Jiaka, the most bottom left of the districts, is the only location on world currently in open conflict.

Timeline of Events:

  1. Imperial Combat Droids are deployed (27/04) into the Bastion and across the Jiaka District on orders of Lord Zazriel, acting Governor of Tobrade, their stated objective being the restoration of order and security within the volatile urban environment.
  2. The deployment of these units were met with visible civil unrest. Within Low Harn, on the opposite side of the planet, imagery and recordings of the droids circulated coinciding with grafitti and posters bearing slogans such as "DOWN WITH DROIDS! WE ARE A FREE CITY!"

  1. The presence of the Imperial Combat Droids increased over the following week (04/05), with patrols increasing along the border. Civilian movement became restricted as checkpoints expanded and identification checks became more common.
  2. During night operations, a small unknown red-clad Mandalorian group were identified by a patrol of units. The engagement resulted in the destruction of approximately a dozen combat droids with the Mandalorians withdrawing after the skirmish.
  3. Shortly thereafter, relief-oriented efforts emerged from the Unwired network, establishing temporary aid points across Jiaka.

  1. A formal curfew was imposed across the Jiaka District (05/05) designated between 21:00 and 06:00 local time.
  2. Tobra for Tobra Network disseminated curfew evasion routes and intelligence on patrol routes to assist locals in evasion.
  3. Further propaganda emerged from Low Hawn, promoting stability through obedience and encouraging Rattataki migration from Jiaka.
  4. The Unwired expanded humanitation shelters, operating intermittently across abandoned structures in Jiaka.
  5. The Undertakers established controlled checkpoints, occupying cleared zones under the guise of civilian operations.
  6. The Tukian Mob increased open armament and territorial presence, preparing for further escalation.
  7. The Reeks emerged, maintaining presence at construction sites amid rising tension, protecting workers and equipment.
  8. Simultaneous to all the above, guerilla engagements against patrols intensified into multiple skirmishes. Grafitti referencing "Port Tziu" and nuclear symbolism appearance, escalating psychological tension across the district.
  9. The Southdown Marauders began launching indiscriminate attacks across Calix, targeting the Tukian Mob and civilians, causing an increase in the loss of sentient life and the push of displaced people into Snah and Little Ryloth.
  10. An incident occurred with the ISS Limerence entering Jiaka, using its spotlights to hunt people not obeying curfew, firing warning shots. A pattern would emerge that ship was only targeting members of the Rattataki race.
  11. Shortly following this several freighters would descend, offering shelter and transport to Low Harn to the displaced.

  1. Imperial Forces declared a full district lockdown. Lord Zazriel's Wraid Company deployed en-masse from the Bastion.
  2. Street by street occupation established with walkers, speeders and fortified checkpoints.
  3. Civilian movements restricted to controlled thorough ways.
  4. Tobra for Tobra Network re-emerged after a brief shutdown, following Imperial raids in their area.
  5. Resistance activity persisted in Northern Jiaka, including ambushes and urban insurgency tactics from Tukian Mob.
  6. Civilians began massing near the checkpoints and the Bastion, demanding entry into Atiria for safety.
  7. Lanvarok: Ignition established a secondary containment zone between Jiaka and Atiria, focusing on protecting infrastructure.
  8. Communications across the Jiaka District are being actively jammed by Imperial Forces.
  9. Imperial forces maintained an aggressive perimeter while facing continued insurgent pressure, actively hunting the Tukian Mob.
  10. Refugee camps formed spontaneously within ruins and streets with populations exceeding 1,000 after being turned away from checkpoints and the Bastion, with residents informed to disperse and return to their homes.
  11. An unknown group was admitted entry into the district, wearing no distinguishing marks, numbering 19 in total. They moved further into the district, clearing spots in a professional capacity before moving towards the original firefight and graffiti, questioning anyone they could about the name "Geneth Keth" and offering out rewards for any information.

This thread is a continuation of the Jiaka District play-by-post that unfolded organically through live narrative updates and faction responses over the channel in the discord.

It has been transferred to the forums for archival, accessibility and continued progression in a more permanent format as well as not to clutter the live updates channel for other happenings across the powerbase and Zula Dominion./SPOILER]

When the merc group arrived near the countdown timer at the spot the original firefight had begun the leader of them borrowed a megaphone from one of the others, they were a loud bunch so clearly two of them had brought their own one.
He spoke in a cold but demanding tone as his voice boomed out over area near the countdown timer on the wall.

"I wish to speak with someone from the Geneth Keth!"

This single line would be repeated by him every 5 minutes for 2 hours. The rest of the group of mercs kept an eye out and staying very close to the leader. Seemingly more interested in keeping him safe than patrolling the area.

If no one responded or acted before then the group went back to searching, the most skilled in technology of the group began looking into the timer that was counting down. Seeing if he could get any information at all from it, either where it was started from, where it might have been created or taken from, anything at all. They made sure to look out for any booby traps on it first, they knew what they were doing, atleast when it came to this.

Having no blatant or hidden booby traps on the timer, it was easy enough to gleam that it was written in a generic Imperial code, the same one that had coded all the shop signs along the street, at least the ones that were still standing and functional.

As the hours trickled on, and the timer tricked down over the two hour period; Nobody came out to respond to the call for Geneth Keth, outside of a few passing by civilians moving to shelter to ensure they were home before the curfew. The shop sign itself was easily figured out to be directly tapped into on site, someone had physically been there to alter the shop sign to display the countdown, with the code being all over the place and fairly shoddily written. Looking more like a terminal school homework project, as opposed to a professional job. But the countdown did the job. Whatever that job was leading to.

It was essentially a rushed code dump to get the shop sign to do something specific. Either it was an amateur job, or the attention to detail was focused on other aspects of the grand theatrics.

Beyond the looming walls of the Bastion came a sprawl of temporary encampments raised in ordered rows. The site was a rigid answer to the innocent civilians caught in the crossfire. No entry came freely however. All are funneled through inspection points before being allowed inside, undergoing all manner of checks.

Once inside medical tents, ration lines and temporary accommodation favouring the women, children and elderly first most of all. The atmosphere was tense but subdued beneath the sonic arrays and patrolling droids.

Several hours after curfew, having provided the citizens an opportunity to seek sanctuary, Imperial Forces made their move. The operation, which quickly earned the nickname Operation Tailhead among the troops, was put into action. Under the cover of darkness nine small armed freighters, two armed shuttles and an escort of starfighters swept across the Jiaka skyline, all bearing Lord Anairith’s FTL insignias.

Within moments grav-lines were dropped from the open bays and squads poured into the streets of Little Ryloth, Snah, Kinduri and Calix. All wore the same Shyrack emblem on their shoulders, denoting them as members of Lord Zazriel’s Warbeasts, the 88th Assault Battalion.

Their objective was singular and uncompromising, to dismantle the Tukian Mob’s operations in the four boroughs. Doors were breached, buildings stormed, and suspects dragged out into the streets. Any resistance was met with lethal action, and it seems in some places resistance was predetermined and lethal force used to put the insurgents down before conflict could arise.

For the people of Jiaka, the message was clear, the Empire was reclaiming the district.

The Tukian Mob's resistance had turned into a fight for survival. Thanks to the aggressive hunting done by Lord Zazriel's imperials, much of the area around the Bastion had been cleared. Down south, they had almost been entirely pushed out of Calix by the Marauders. Morale was wavering and members of the Unwired could hear talks of abandoning the fight and the mob itself. Some blamed the Mandalorians, others tried to assure themselves and others that things would change when the countdown hit zero.

But as soon as things started to look up for the Imperials, catastrophy struck one of the checkpoints. A hooded, scarred human man approached the checkpoint to be searched, but before he could be dealt with, a device hidden under his coat detonated, swallowing the checkpoint in explosion and flame. The droids and soldiers would be caught in it, as well as civilians. Roughly fifteen of the refugees died immediately, with several dozen critically wounded. Chaos and desperation grew both within and without the camps.

The refugees, which had now grown to over 2000 individuals, rushed the fence or ran into the nearby ruins for safety.

Accusations of people belonging to the Marauders started to run rampant, with open hostility, fights and even murders taking place between individuals. This was not helped by a growing food crisis, which had been bad even before the conflict.

The Imperials landing in Calix would be met with a grim sight. Large steel beams had been decorated with bodies of sentients, mostly tukians. Crucified, hanging or bolted into the metal, most were dead but some remained in a state of prolonged agony like some morbid totem of cruelty. Torches littered the streets, where skinned faces had been pulled over the flame, the heat melting through what remained.

Some areas looked almost like holy sites.

They would also find bodies that had clearly been eaten, and the teeth marks did not look like akk dogs. The food situation was better here, clearly.

The Marauders were the hyenas of Jiaka and didn't fight the Imperials as they arrived unless caught in the open. They used ruins, alleys and tunnels to watch but keep their distance, fleeing back to the Southdowns if necessary. At least the Shyrack soldiers had further halted the atrocities committed.

It was impossible to say how many were dead since communication was out and nobody had cared about the people of Jiaka since...ever... but the number of dead or missing had likely reached upwards of 400 civilians. The Tukian Mob had lost almost half its members to the Imperials and Marauders.

As the clock struck midday, and Jiaka's descent into madness and chaos continued towards the brink of extermination, a voice cut through the fog of war. Projected from various homemade devices, old discarded megaphones, speakers and anything that would carry even barely audible sound, something spoke.

"People of Jiaka, the Dark welcomes you. Let not the Atom nor the boot bring you fear. The faithful welcome you, beneath. Be judged not by those who live in the light. Serve the true master of our world, our Twisted Father. Our Lord is not absent, he has sent his Violent Son to test us. We must subsist. We will survive."

Any faction other than red-blooded Imperials trying to traverse the network of tunnels beneath Jiaka, both known and makeshift, would be welcomed by the embrace of darkness. Anyone who sought to bring violence beneath would never see the light again.

The checkpoints around Low Harn continued to be manned and entries were rigorously checked and investigated for any subterfuge.

Sewer entrances had Rattataki’s armed with heavy flamers at almost all times guarding them.

Another holovid was released, this time it showed an attractive human blonde female with a low cut dress showing off ample cleavage. Her face though had fresh Rattataki piercings adorning her face alongside fresh facial tattoos. A large figure in Qutes armour stood beside her, statuesque in deme

Rows of cleaned up, polished armoured and armed Rattataki’s were behind her as she read a speech into the camera.

“Fellow citizens of Tobrade, the stable, strong and benevolent Warden of Low Harn extends her encompassing arms to all those displaced by the barbaric underworld wars being conducted in Tobra City.
Low Harn is a stable, flourishing city under the Wardens rule where all who wish to contribute to the strength and stability of society are welcomed. All who embrace their ways, as I have, will find a safe and fulfilling journey for their life here.”
