Rarity
Rare

Reaching up to 15 feet tall, the Kraggor is an undisputed apex predator of Verdanis, dominating the dense jungle with sheer power and lethal efficiency. This massive, muscular beast possesses four powerful arms, each ending in razor-sharp claws capable of rending through nearly any material. Its long, segmented tail tapers into a scythe-like venomous spike, delivering swift, fatal strikes that either paralyze or outright kill its prey in an instant.

Despite its immense size, the Kraggor is also suited for stealth. Its thick, scale-plated hide is naturally camouflaged, blending seamlessly with the jungle’s verdant hues and dappled light. Allowing it to remain unseen until the moment it decides to strike. With keen night vision and an acute sense of its surroundings, the Kraggor hunts with patience, stalking its prey before launching itself forward in a devastating burst of speed.

Solitary by nature, the Kraggor is highly territorial, claiming vast stretches of jungle as its own and attacking anything that dares trespass.

Glimphar

Glimphar.jpg
DesignationReptile
ColourationGrey
DistinctionsBioluminescent Patches, Toxin
RarityCommon
The Glimphar is a deceptively dangerous, frog-like creature native to the swampy jungles of Verdanis. Standing around three feet tall, it possesses a soft, amphibious body with four strong limbs, ideal for leaping through dense underbrush, and two smaller, more nimble arms near its chest that are used for grasping food or small objects. Its long, slimy tail secretes a toxin-laced mucus, potent enough to paralyze smaller creatures upon contact, offering an effective defence against the numerous predators of the jungle.

The Glimphar’s skin is dotted with patches of bioluminescence, allowing it to communicate using rhythmic pulses of light. These glowing signals are used to coordinate with others, attract prey, or even disorient potential threats. While they prefer traveling in small groups of three to four, which aids in protection and cooperative hunting, Glimphars are not shy about aggression. When provoked, their bioluminescent displays shift into sharp, erratic flashes, and they can deliver swift, paralyzing strikes with their toxic tail, making them a formidable opponent despite their size.

Gravlok

Gravlok.jpg
DesignationMammal
ColourationWhite, Grey, Dark-Brown Fur
DistinctionsPack-Driven, Jaw Strength
RarityCommon

The Gravlok is a fearsome pack predator that prowls the dense, perilous jungles of Verdanis, moving in groups of ten to twelve individuals. With its muscular, hunchbacked frame and forelimbs that are significantly longer than its hind legs, the Gravlok moves with surprising power and grace, adopting a low, crouched stance as it lumbers through the jungle underbrush. Though its appearance resembles that of a canine, its broad chest and stocky, heavily muscled body give it a much more intimidating, brawny presence.

Gravloks hunt in highly coordinated packs, using strategic cooperation to take down much larger prey. Each member of the pack has a specific role. Younger Gravloks drive prey toward the older, more experienced hunters, who then finish the kill with their serrated, bone-crushing jaws. Their howls, eerie and loud, echo across the jungle for miles, serving both as a warning to others and as a means of long-distance communication in the jungle's thick, shadowy canopy. This relentless pack mentality and raw power make the Gravlok one of the most feared creatures on Verdanis.

Venator Arachnid

Venator.jpg
DesignationArachnid
ColourationMale - Iridescent. Female - Black/Brown
DistinctionsPotent Paralytic Venom
RarityCommon

The Venator Arachnid is a prominent species, both beautiful and dangerous. Males are significantly smaller, their nimble bodies adorned with vivid, iridescent colours that shift depending on the light. These dazzling hues serve a dual purpose: attracting potential mates while also warning predators of their toxicity. Females, by contrast, are much larger. Thick-limbed, robust, and draped in deep, earthy tones that allow them to blend seamlessly into the jungle undergrowth. Unlike their more conspicuous male counterparts, they rely on ambush tactics rather than speed. Their primary weapons are their massive, serrated fangs, which deliver a potent paralytic venom capable of immobilizing creatures within seconds.

The venom is likely prized for its dual utility. It immobilizes prey without killing it, allowing hunters to harvest fresh meat or capture live creatures for trade. The spider silk, equally valuable, is resilient enough to fashion into lightweight but durable cords and such. Possible psychedelic aspects are also currently being studied.

Vissik

Vissik.jpg
DesignationPrimate
ColourationWhite/Grey Fur
DistinctionsBioluminescent Marks
RarityUncommon

The Vissik is a nocturnal, arboreal creature with bioluminescent markings along its fur, which it uses for communication and camouflage among the glowing flora of Verdanis' dense jungles. Not more than 2 feet tall when on it's hind legs, it has elongated fingers tipped with adhesive pads, allowing it to cling effortlessly to the massive, spiralling trees of its habitat. Its large, reflective eyes give it exceptional night vision, and it has a unique, forked prehensile tongue that it uses to extract nectar from oversized jungle flowers.

Highly intelligent and mischievous, Vissiks are known to mimic sounds in their environment, sometimes imitating predators to scare off threats. Their eerie, warbling calls echo through the jungle canopy at dusk, signalling their emergence from their nests.

Gorrak

Gorrak.png
DesignationMammal
ColourationBrown, Moss-laden
DistinctionPowerful hind legs
RarityCommon

The Gorrak is a massive quadrupedal herbivore that roams the dense jungles of Verdanis, feeding primarily on towering fungal growths, or those that sprout from trees. Standing nearly 12 feet at the shoulder and covered in a thick, moss-laden hide, the Gorrak blends seamlessly into its surroundings, making it difficult to spot immediately despite its immense size.

The Gorrak can be deceptively agile creature. Its muscular hind legs allow it to perform powerful leaps across deep cracks and crevices, while its broad feet provide stability on uneven terrain. These adaptations are crucial for navigating the treacherous landscape, where thick foliage and hidden sinkholes pose constant threats.

While many creatures of Verdanis rely on stealth or aggression to survive, the Gorrak thrives by simply being too large, too tough, and too well-adapted for most predators to challenge.

Skelter Mite

Skelter Mite.png
DesignationInsect
ColourationPurple, though mostly translucent
DistinctionsBioluminescent Communication
RarityCommon

The Skelter Mite is a tiny, elusive insect that thrives in the humid undergrowth of Verdanis' dense jungle. Roughly the size of a human fingernail, it has a translucent exoskeleton that shifts in color to match its surroundings, making it nearly invisible to predators. By absorbing ambient bioluminescence from the glowing flora, it can emit brief pulses of light to communicate with others in its colony.

Despite its small size, the Skelter Mite is a crucial part of the ecosystem, feeding on decaying plant matter and breaking it down into nutrients. At night, entire colonies of Skelter Mites can be seen flickering in synchronized patterns, creating mesmerizing, shifting lights in the jungle darkness.

Ashvitoln

c81eaebc-90c3-4d9e-b3b5-db32e9a513a6.png

DesignationMammal
ColourationMale: Black and gray fur / Female: Brown and black fur with a white stripe on their ears
DistinctionsFour sharp claws on each limb with a clawed 'thumb'
Sharp teeth
Glands under their tongues that store toxins that mix into their saliva.
RarityUncommon

Though some might see the Ashvitoln as an adorable creature, they are quite aggressive towards all sentient life. With Claws capable of tearing into Durasteel and highly toxic bites. These animals, despite their appearance, are predators rather than prey. While capable of moving bipedally, they are quite fast when quadrupedal, with muscular limbs to climb trees and sprint through the foliage.

On average they stand at around 3-4 feet tall, the males appearing larger in size, both in terms of height and musculature, though the females appear to have larger glands to produce more toxins to mix into their saliva. The Ashvitoln are nocturnal, using their dark coloured fur to blend into the shadows of the dense trees. They are carnivorous with sharp teeth and fangs and have hardened scales on their limbs for further protection from other creatures.

While the males go about their nightly hunts, the females produce a loud piercing shriek as if to mimic dying screams. This is used to frighten potential threats away from where the Ashvitoln keep their nests, which is often located in burrows, found within small openings and glades.

Cradlings

Namnlös-4 (2).png
Cradlings at various ages

Physical Characteristics

DesignationPrimate
Average Length1'7" - 1'11" / 50-60cm
Average Weight11-15 lbs. / 5-7 kg
DistinctionsBig blue eyes
RarityUncommon

Cradlings are small primates discovered by explorers from Cradle, and named after the settlement. So far, a total of thirty or so individuals have been encountered in the territory surrounding Cradle. Their population seems to be somewhat localized as they have not been encountered elsewhere, yet. It is believed the prevalence of predators is a likely cause for their limited habitat.

They live off of fruits and nuts, rarely leaving the treetops and vines which keeps them safe from potential predators. While they are quite small, they are excellent climbers and can move effortlessly through the dense jungle.

Cradlings live in groups of 10-15, with a mix of males and females. They have been documented to exhibit some level of intelligence, cracking nuts against rocks, using sticks to scoop out certain fruits and building hut-like nests among the trees with smaller branches and vines.

They are also incredibly curious, with Imperial patrols and explorers reportedly waking up to several bright blue eyes staring at them from every direction in the middle of the night. Cradlings have shown no aggression toward sentients, although seem to react to Cathars as though they are predators.

When threatened, they let out a loud, owl-like shout that has become a great warning signal for local garrisons, explorers and researchers. Cradlings are incredibly alert, and while technological warning systems are prone to malfunction and interference in the rough climate, the primates' shout is a good indication it’s time to move.

Sivrik Runner

b885b45fbd2f4330c07612ee2a02f448.png

DesignationMammal
ColourationSilver/Grey Fur
DistinctionsSix Limbs
RarityCommon

The Sivrik Runners are small, six-limbed scavengers. Their wet fur is naturally slick, helping to shed moisture in the dense, humid environment. Wide amber eyes give them excellent low light vision, and their tail provides balance when climbing or darting through underbrush. Each of their six limbs ends in dexterous, clawed digits. Ideal for prying open husks, digging through debris, or delicately handling food.

They are opportunistic omnivores, feeding on carrion, discards, fungal growths, and smaller prey like lizards or insects. Colonists have already reported that the creatures are unusually bold around Axan, often creeping close to structures and supply caches in search of an easy meal.

Verdanian Brush Otter

DesignationMammal
ColourationBrown Fur
DistinctionsOversized Ears
RarityCommon

Sleek, semi-aquatic mammals that reside along Verdanis’ deltas. Built for agility. Long-bodied, with sharp eyes and oversized ears tipped with sensory bristles. Partially webbed feet and flexible spines make them equally comfortable darting through the brush or diving into shallow waters.

They are opportunistic omnivores. They hunt small fish, amphibians, and crustaceans but are just as likely to root around for fruit, edible roots, or abandoned nests. Their foraging behaviour often appears playful to observers. Tossing shells, flipping stones, or splashing in rivers seemingly without purpose, though it often masks a calculated search for food.

Amid the ecosystem, they help keep aquatic prey populations in check while also dispersing seeds and stirring up riverbeds, making them an essential part of the balance along deltas.

Crazy Brunette

MOSHED-2025-1-1-19-32-58.jpg
Crazy Brunette is a creature living in dark forests of Verdanis, recorded by Special Operative Asura on his first expedition. Barely anything is known about the creature other than few facts and ideas Asura cames with. Hybrid of centipede like body connected with one resembling spider in lower parts. Head and face features resemble that of humanoid if one had good enough imagination, covered by long dark hair.
It is believed by Operative that this creatures controls, or maybe gives birth and than controls smaller spiders or bugs, no different from any of the plentyfull local flora carrying the toxins that may paralise and take control of victim mind, leading it toward the Crazy Brunette so the beast can feed itself. Additionally that it lives in cave, somewhere around the green hills, close to where Asura's failed expedition ended. How much of that is true, is to debate, but there is a holopicture from bodycamera of the beast. How real is the rest, It is still to be discovered.

Crowned Honey Bee

CrownedBeeVerdanis.png
A Crowned honey bee worker pollinating the jungle flora.

Physical Characteristics

DesignationInsect
Average LengthWorker: 2 in. / 5 cm.
Queen: 3 in. / 7,5 cm.
Average WeightWorker: 0.056 oz / 1600 mg
Queen: 0.102 oz / 2900 mg
DistinctionsSpiked carapace on it head and upper back.
RarityCommon

As with most creatures on Verdanis, the indigenous Crowned honey bee is a lot larger than its counter parts on more temperate planets. It got its name from the spiked chitin formations along its head and upper back, something that is even more pronounced on the queen. The Crowned honey bee is widely spread across Verdanis and plays a very important role in its rich and diverse ecosystem.

The bees are not aggressive whilst pollinating but highly territorial of their nests. Their stings inject a venom that while not lethal, causes intense pain and significant swelling. Even those without allergy to its venom will likely find themselves suffocating if stung on the throat. Stinging is however a last resort, as the barbed stinger will most often gets stuck in the skin and tears out the bee's abdomen once they fly away. Instead, the bee may choose to bite the threat, which isn't venomous but very painful.

The bee produces a highly rich and sweet honey high up in the tree crowns of the jungle; keeping their nests away from most but not all hungry sweet toothed animals. The honey has a clear amber colour and pleasant floral notes in its scent and taste. It has a mildly intoxicating effect on high consumption, like a light alcoholic buzz.

To gather this honey is a significant undertaking, not only for the precautions needed in dealing with the bees themselves, but the sheer height of the trees. A few of the settlers have begun to hone such skills, but there is much potential to expand the trade with proper funding.
