Image of the studio appears on the holo - Simona flashing a charming smile to the camera from over her battle station. On the couch to her left sit the guests of tonight: Qute Blokk in her hulking white warplate, putting some strain on the seating, Deena Kharib in black, uniform robe - looking to the host with confidence, Markus Andril in light Sith armour, giving the camera a direct, cold, deadpan stare, and finally Linnavi Dyze reclining comfortably and looking all around.
SIMONA: But welcome everyone to a very, very special interview tonight. The Warden of Greyvein has agreed to answer some of your questions, and tell a little about her plans. She has brought other Sith along, who have interest in our system too.
Let's start with the Warden herself. A simple question to begin with - what are your future plans for Greyvein?
DEENA: Thank you, Simona. It's good to be here, finally. Amidst the work and trials, one must not forget the people, who make our Dominion great.
My Master, Lord Zazriel has placed me here on this post, as he felt our humble asteroid too crucial to be left behind in the wide administration of the sector. I'm happy to say, the onboarding has been smooth. Our workers in the local administration did their best during my first days, and to you I'd just like to say - Deeply appriciated!
Deena gives the camera a humble, grateful smile, to which Simona bows her head in agreement. Linnavi and Markus peer around at the studio magic happening around the recorded space.
DEENA: As for what may we look forward to... I won't try to deny that the Dominion has great expectations for Little Sister to fulfill. And the people of Greyvein gave their sweat and blood to see them realised. You work hard, in the mines and in the factories. And it will be my main goal to alleviate the hardships this work brings upon us.
Simona looks from person to person before setting her sight to Deena again. Slowly but inevitably, the bench begins to deform under Qute. Deena raises her hand to point things out on her fingers as she continues.
DEENA: We've began the work to better the conditions of work in the mines. We take part of the yield you excavate and turn them into locally produced tools, to make sure the work is done all the easier and all the safer for it.
As we speak, we construct new places of labour in addition to the camps yet in place. To share the load we're expected to pull between more hands.
And following that, the rewards of labour. I wish to see Greyvein turned from just a mining settlement into a town to work, live and retire in. Housing, leisure and everyday convinience.
Simona notes something down on her datapad, which Linnavi seems to be intently observing. With a small wave of her hand, Qute caused the pens and pencils to float over Simona's desk, causing the host a little distraction.
DEENA: Life here may be challenging yet, but I aim that it only gets better.
SIMONA: And you have the Warden. I'm certain the questions we'll have will bring that even more to light. But let us ask one of the guests then. Sith Prime Qute Blokk, what are your interests in Little Sister and Greyvein?
Qute peers around briefly before she clears her throat and slams a fist onto her chestplate.
QUTE: People of Little Sister, you may have seen a growing fleet gathering around your settlements. Do not fear! They are mine and... they represent...
Qute pauses for dramatic effect.
QUTE: Employment opportunities! My forces shall ensure to add to the Warden's designs of prosperity and protection, and if you wish to be part of that then sign up now to join the Pale Scourge... And find adventure amongst the stars!
SIMONA: Thank you, Sith Prime. Now everyone in Greyvein will know where to look if they wish for adventure.
DEENA: The Republic's marauders will think twice before they try their luck in our space.
QUTE: Indeed!
Simona nods in agreement before her blue eyes turn to Linnavi.
SIMONA: Sith Linnavi Dyze, what is your interest in Little Sister and Greyvein?
LINNAVI: I'm also building a fleet. On Tobra Station. They're called 'Dead Signal' and go out claiming spoils for the Dominion. Raiding shipping lanes, stripping ships. Stuff like that... But I have a question for the people of Little Sister. Why do you call your system Little Sister? It sounds a bit weird.
Something to think about. Calling it all Greyvein would sound less creepy, is all I'm saying.
Deena puts her hand to her lips and chuckles in polite amusement while Simona smiles and nods, seemingly skipping the answer to that question to look to Markus. Linnavi stares at the host for a moment longer before pouting and shrugging.
SIMONA: Please, introduce yourself and what plans you have for Little Sister and Greyvein?
Markus gives a nod and looks to Simona, no longer constantly staring into the souls of the holo audience.
MARKUS: Fairly new arrival to the Dominion. Incipient Markus Andril. I am at the start of my journey still, yet Greyvein will always hold a special place in it. It is where I first planted my flag by opening the copper mining facility. And so, I will always keep an interest and reinvest in it as I expand.
I will not elaborate on exactly what I will do, but the people should expect to hear more of me in the near and far future.
SIMONA: Thank you, Incipient. It seems there is a bright future ahead of us. If you are all ready we shall begin with questions sent in by the citizens of Greyvein.
The first one comming in is… Recently the system development act has added that a mandatory levy must be paid. How long do you believe the levy will stay? Why is it here? What does the rest of the couch think about it?
Deena nods deeply, putting on a concerned expression as Linnavi begins to discreetly murmur with Markus.
DEENA: Our Dominion faces foes that prey just beyond our borders. We all – Sith and Operatives sworn to the Dark Lord included pay the blood price every day, to see that the foe is kept at bay. Out of your sky, out of your homes.
QUTE: Everyone has a responsibility to defend their hearth and home. Take pride in your own strenght!
DEENA: The degenerate Republic lurks beyond the frontier. My Sith collegues here add their fleets to the system’s defences, but should Coursant’s corporate overlords reach their grubby hands for our stars, the Little Sister would be on the forefront.
I may not say when exactly the special measures will be relaxed, but the effort we all give today will be what keeps us safe tomorrow.
MARKUS: It allows for those with initiative to shine by protecting the system they call home. The levy helps the economy and adds a new vertical for growth, while the majority of the profit still remains with the captains that do the plundering.
Linnavi snaps her finger towards someone beyond the cameras’ reach.
MARKUS: Quite an ingenious act. While the levy does seem harsh, it is only made to futher the system.
SIMONA: Good answers from all around the couch. Sith Linnavi Dyze, anything to add to this?
LINNAVI: Yes, I would like a drink or something.
SIMONA: What would you like?
LINNAVI: Something sugary.
The cameras pan out and an energetic music begins to play over the holo for the ad break.
SERIOUS WORK NEEDS SERIOUS REFRESHMENTS! BACK FROM THE MINES, SEEKING TO QUENCH THAT THIRST? START YOUR WELL DESERVED EVENING WITH MOLTEN FIZZLER.
MOLTEN FIZZLER!
CUTTING DOWN ON CARBS? TRY MOLTEN FIZZLER SUGAR FREE!
The cameras start rolling footage from the studio again, with Linnavi now provided with a can of sugary drink.
SIMONA: And that’s the ad breaks over, and Sith Linnavi Dyze has gotten a refreshing Molten Fizzler. Something that can only be gotten here in this very system.
QUTE: Why aren’t we all provided refreshments, actually?
DEENA: My collegues have gone a long way through the Dominion to be here.
Linnavi snaps the can open and takes a sip, while Markus watches her. As on que, a group of men and women dressed in Molten Fizzler branding enter the room, handing out glasses of the beverage to the remaining Sith, while the music jingle from the ad plays in the background.
LINNAVI: Is there a sugar free version too?
SIMONA: Yes, we will have that in the next intermission if you wish, my Lord.
LINNAVI: Allright.
MARKUS: I’ll wait for the sugar-free version. Trying to cut down on it.
LINNAVI: It’s pretty good. Worth of having a levy for.
QUTE: I can feel my glucose rising. Tastes good though. Yum.
Cameras focus back on Simona as she continues the interview.
SIMONA: Next question then. It’s known that before you joined the Dominion, Warden, you were from the Core. How was it living like under the Republic? It must have been difficult. After you are done, the rest of the couch can say their own views on the Republic.
Deena lifts her chin up in slight surprise, a moment before Simona asks her question in full, actually. She takes a few seconds pause before answering.
DEENA: I have to say, the day the imperial transport had ushered me away from Coronet was the one most Force-ordained day of my life. The Core is a manifest of duality. Great spires and penthouses loom, visible from the orbit itself. A display of opulence that speaks ‘Join and reap the rewards!’
I never seen much of those spires. For me it was the ground below, where the people have little and what they have is yet taken from them. The lofty ideals of democracy are undermined – and by design – by corporate interests lobbying those ‘proud servants of state’ to make the rich richer, and the poor poorer.
It were not the hypocrite Jedi that set me free from squalor and hunger of the streets. It was the Empire. And I say it in earnest – I would rather Greyvein be a diamond in the rough than a gilded piece of coal.
MARKUS: Is swearing permitted on this feed?
SIMONA: Yes, we can bleep it out.
MARKUS: Fantastic… They are self-righteous *BLEEP*. That is all.
QUTE: The Republic have a veneer of strenght, but within it is hollow and built upon weakness. They shall fall. It is destined as they are afraid of those who are strong, even themselves.
MARKUS: Fought them as a soldier, then fought them as a Sith. One remained a constant – hypocrisy is their lifestyle with incompetence and stagnation being promoted.
SIMONA: Good answers again. We still have a few more left. The next one coming in asks what the other Sith in here think about the Warden and her work here? A bit of an open question. Take it as you wish.
Deena closes her eyes briefly, taking a bit of a humble look as others speak.
QUTE: Hasn’t appeared to *BLEEP* anything up so far. Seems good to me.
MARKUS: Haven’t worked enough with her just yet, but she’s earned her title and so far seems to be doing an adequate job. I look forward to working more with her. Maybe then I will have a more in-depth examination.
LINNAVI: I’m not really keeping tabs, not really my interest to follow asteroid developments. But she’s a good fighter.
DEENA: We’ll make news of Greyvein join the scroll by your morning kaf soon, Sith Dyze.
SIMONA: Seems the Warden is well respected. Splendid! Speaking of developments, the next qeustion is regarding the.. People’s Militia of Greyvein. Rumour has it that you are the one they report to. Is that something that can be confirmed today? Or is it all lies?
Qute begins to tap on the bench as if to assess it’s limits. Thankfully, the bench holds on.
DEENA: I do know of them. And I encourage civic initiatives to keep the streets safe. But I do have to emphasise that all such actions ought go through proper administration channels first. No one is above the law after all, and those who abuse the authority granted in good faith by the community will face sanctions. So for those that do the good work, you have my thanks – our thanks.
But back to the question. No. Such direct channel does not exist.
Deena looks directly to the camera for a moment after concluding, flashing a small smile as if for someone particular on the other side. Linnavi tilts her head, to which Simona turns towards her.
SIMONA: Did you have something to add, Sith Linnavi Dyze?
LINNAVI: No…
SIMONA: I see. I must have sensed wront then. Let me see. There’s not many questions yet. We had one about a missing Cathar… Seems like she was taken from a mine. Moving over that…
For a moment Markus gives the host a deadpanned look and Linnavi smiles.
DEENA: No, do make sure the name is on my desk.
LINNAVI: Yeah… get that name.
SIMONA: I see. I’ll have our team send it over to you right after this interview. We are running out of time. How about instead we let you all give some final words? Starting with the Warden.
QUTE: Over one meas-, hmm.
Qute grunts and shakes her head. Meanwhile a Molten Fizzler woman comes in to provide Linnavi with sugar free Molten Fizler.
DEENA: Of course. Thank you, Simona. I won’t mince much words. There is a lot of work ahead of us. There will be challenges ahead of the journey, but I know that the destination is true. So I’d ask you, People of Greyvein… Let me be your captain.
The host waits a few seconds for closing thoughts from the rest, yet as none come, instead the show’s closing theme starts playing as both Simona and the Warden exchange warm parting gestures.
