Serving You, Serving Me
Sith Task

Subject: Worthy Servants

Any Sith can command fodder. A slave obeys through fear. A conscript serves through obligation. Such followers are commonplace and easily replaced. A Sith of true vision is measured not simply by the volume of servants they command, but by the quality of those who follow them.

It is therefore my will that each of you recruit a single servant to your growing powerbase.

Choose carefully. This is not to be a disposable lackey, but an individual of genuine talent and purpose whose service reflects your own philosophy and ambitions. I care less for what they are than why they have chosen to follow you.

Upon securing their loyalty, prepare a dossier detailing who they are, how they entered your service and the value they bring to your powerbase. Your choice will reveal far more about your potential than any duel or battlefield victory.

If any of your new servants appeal, I might take them into my service in exchange in return for a fair reward for the individual who found them.

Demonstrate that you are worthy of being followed. The one who recruits the best servant will be rewarded.

- V -

To decide the quality of servant you recruit, you can roll 1D10 in the #serving-you-serving-me channel on Discord and use the table below to resolve that roll, taking into account any modifiers. If you are unhappy with the outcome of your roll, each Lord may grant one re-roll to a Sith they favour.

The roll table below is intended to provide a sense of the calibre of individual your Sith is able to recruit. It is a guide rather than an exhaustive list, so the examples given should be treated as inspiration rather than strict limitations.

My recommendation is to make your roll first, then develop a concept that fits within that level of talent and influence. If you're unsure whether your idea is appropriate, simply post your dossier below in spoiler tags. I'll review it and let you know if it needs to be adjusted before it's considered final.

Once you have established the sort of servant your character would recruit, your next step would be to arrange something to tell us how this newfound relationship was formed. Ideally this should be underpinned by meaningful roleplay, but a well written story is acceptable too.

Whatever the case you should aim to create a dossier with a nice picture to tell us who your new servant is. This would be an in-character submission, so limit the scope of the dossier to what would be shared with the Dark Lord.

ALIAS: “The Architect”
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 38
OCCUPATION: Executive Director
AFFILIATION: Oasis Entertainment, under the patronage of Calian Tarr

BIOGRAPHY:
In the entertainment business of the Dominion, Valerie is, to her distaste, known as “The Architect”. She is a renowned entertainment executive and “cultural strategist”, known for her ability to turn diverse, ragtag groups of entertainment ventures into cohesive and profitable cultural powerhouses.

Born in 6 BTC into an unremarkable family of pencil pushers, Valerie from a young age showed an appreciation of culture and a deep understanding of people; as she grew up, she did not care to become a performer or an artist herself, but instead followed the path of organization and management. She not only quickly established herself as a capable producer, but a talent scout and eventually, an executive.

She was eventually recruited for Veyronis Group, where her task was to breathe life into a then-struggling entertainment division. The years that came after it quickly turned the struggling entertainment division into one of the most successful ventures at Veyronis Group and even the Dominion. This task was done by her meticulous ability in discovering and developing new talent, revitalizing their nightlife spots and encouraging tight-knit collaboration with different divisions of the company.

During this time she was given the nickname “The Architect”, largely thanks to her meticulous ability to connect seemingly unrelated ventures that can support one another and prop each other up. Artists can be discovered in nightclubs, who can become celebrities, who in turn can endorse brands which can sponsor sporting events: these ventures have made her one of the most sought after people in the entertainment industry, with both companies and individuals courting her to jump ship.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
  • Revitalization of Veyronis Entertainment
    • A dying subsidiary of Veyronis was quickly pulled together and made profitable by Sorelle once more
  • Discovery & development of Lorell Tarius
    • A beloved popstar.
  • Project Convergence
    • Brought together the various acquisitions of Veyronis Group to support each other economically to minimize loss and gain profits.
  • Nova Grand Prix
    • Turned a small, local racing circuit into a commercial success and a social spectacle.
SKILLS AND EXPERTISE
  • Talent scouting & development
    • Excellent eye for finding who’s good at what and what needs to be done to turn them into the best version of themselves.
  • Entertainment strategy
  • Cross-industry integration
  • Brand development
  • Cultural forecasting
    • Perhaps her most valuable skill, which is being able to often know what kind of market gaps are going to appear before they are there, cashing in on it before competitors.
CIRCUMSTANCES OF RECRUITMENT AND LOYALTY
I became aware of Sorelle through my investigation on finding a suitable candidate to run Oasis Entertainment in day-to-day operations and enable its development even in my absence. Her track record not only was impressive, but I quickly noticed we shared a vision of an all encompassing entertainment empire; I reached out and was both blunt and honest.

I do not have the same resources that Veyronis can give her, but what I can offer is full autonomy: I could see that Veyronis was choking her creativity as they feared financial losses. I can provide her with resources and an entertainment empire to build from the ground-up, rather than scrounging it together from a ragtag group of acquisitions from decades ago. I pointed out the existing infrastructure of Oasis Entertainment and what it could be - so she accepted.

Her loyalty comes from a place of mutual respect; we share a vision of what Oasis could be and I trust in her impressive resume to make it happen, providing her with the resources she needs for the powerbase to thrive.
CURRENT ROLE
Sorelle currently works to develop Oasis as the executive director, given considerable autonomy over operations to determine how its current and future ventures can be integrated seamlessly.

Name: Keinan Talis
Rank: Lieutenant, Navy
Species: Human
Age: 29

History:
Keinan Talis was born into a family where service in the Navy was less a profession and more of an inheritance. For generations, the Talis name had appeared on academy rolls, officer commissions, and the plaques of decorated vessels out in the frontier worlds of the Outer Rim. His father had commanded warships, his mother had served within Naval Intelligence, and more distant relatives seemed to occupy every conceivable position between the bridge and the admiralty.

Naturally, this left little in the way of questions about where Keinan's life was headed. He entered the Naval Academy carrying both the advantages and burdens of his family name. His instructors expected excellence, his family demanded it, and Keinan quickly demonstrated that he possessed the instincts of a capable officer. He had a sharp tactical mind, remained remarkably composed under pressure, and possessed an uncanny ability to improvise when carefully prepared plans inevitably collapsed.

Unfortunately, after the loss of his wife and son during a Republic bombing raid on his homeworld, Talis became even more unhinged with his tactics and as a result, had managed to develop a record as someone with a rather loose grasp on Naval doctrine. Where another officer saw regulations, Keinan saw recommendations. Favouring deception, calculated risks, and occasionally tactics that weren't technically prohibited. During one deployment, he reportedly concealed his vessel among the wreckage of a destroyed convoy to ambush pirates. On another, with the commander in charge of the ship dead, he ignored orders to withdraw from an engagement and instead used his ship's damaged reactor signature to convince an enemy captain that his vessel was moments away from catastrophic failure. When the enemy moved in to finish them off, Keinan brought the supposedly crippled ship back to full power and attacked at point-blank range.

While his methods had worked, they also had given him a black mark on his record. Many of his victories were handed away to his superiors or to just good fortune. He had the ire of his betters and the admiration of those who served under him. Eventually his somewhat reckless actions would result in his senior officers looking for a way to remove him from their command. Promotion would reward his behaviour. Dismissal would waste an undeniably talented officer. So Lieutenant Talis was grounded for the time being.

Unofficially, everyone understood that he was being held so that his unconventional approach would cause fewer headaches for the Admiralty. Keinan was trapped in an unending loop of tedium, barely granted command over any ship larger than a small freighter and confined to ground for long periods of time in between deployment. That was until an offer arrived at his door. The offer to work for a Sith.

Notable Achievements:
  • The Convoy Wreckage Ambush — Concealed his vessel among the remains of a destroyed convoy before ambushing the pirates responsible when they returned. The manoeuvre earned him a commendation alongside a formal reprimand for unnecessarily endangering his ship.
  • The Dead Reactor Gambit — Used his vessel's damaged reactor signature to convince a pursuing enemy captain that his ship was crippled. When the enemy closed in for the kill, Talis restored full power and engaged at point-blank range, turning a near-certain defeat into victory.
  • The Three-Ship Bluff — Forced a significantly larger hostile vessel to surrender by falsifying communications traffic suggesting that a Naval task force was approaching. In reality, the supposed "task force" consisted of Talis' vessel and two lightly armed patrol ships repeatedly changing transponder identities.
  • Negotiation with Frontier Criminals — Temporarily negotiated cooperation with smugglers and other local criminal elements to obtain intelligence on a pirate fleet. Naval Command strongly objected to the arrangement; the intelligence subsequently enabled several pirate bases to be located and destroyed.

Skill & Expertise:
  • Naval tactics
  • Tactical improvisation
  • Anti-Piracy operations
  • Deception and Misdirection

Recruitment:
Sith Virnasi, with both arms still recovering from being dislocated the night before, undertook the lengthy journey to the Empire’s capital to introduce herself to the Imperial, accompanied by Prime Qute Blokk. Following what some might describe as an ‘interrogation’, Sith Virnasi offered the Imperial a place within her growing powerbase.
The exact details of their conversation remain a mystery. What is known, however, is that the Sith offered Lieutenant Talis the opportunity to lead a squad of his own once again and, perhaps with time, the chance to command a vessel of his own.

Fortunately for Sith Virnasi, the Lieutenant required little convincing. His superiors were equally receptive to the arrangement, seemingly delighted by the opportunity to have the unruly Imperial removed from under their command and dispatched somewhere far beyond their sector and, more importantly, far beyond the reach of their responsibility.
