Sentry-Class Cutter
Security Enforcement Vessel
Security Enforcement Vessel
The Sentry-class Cutter is a compact patrol vessel designed for rapid response and close-range security duties within Dominion-controlled systems. Built at the Tyrant Shipyards (Zula IV) by Vetrax Star Systems, the class is intended to allow planetary governors access to increased security and presence within their own systems.
Crewed by a modest team of five, the cutter is designed to operate continuously within its home system, relying on local stations and carriers for refuelling and maintenance. Although primarily used for routine patrols, customs inspections, and rapid rescue operations, its internal modular bay allows it to carry between five and ten additional passengers, specialised equipment, or a small squad of soldiers when required.
The ship’s armament is intentionally minimal. A single forward-mounted turbolaser cannon provides enough firepower to deter smugglers, pirates, or low-grade raiders, while an ion cannon offers a non-destructive option for bringing fleeing vessels to heel. Lacking a hyperdrive, the Sentry-class is not intended for major engagements or independent operations beyond its assigned system. Instead, its strength lies in its relatively low cost
Where the cutter truly excels is in close-range search and rescue. Its compact size and powerful manoeuvring thrusters allow it to enter debris fields, approach wreckage, and navigate hazardous terrain where larger ships cannot safely operate. Many systems are expected to employ Sentry-class cutters as first responders, deploying them to retrieve stranded craft, tow damaged vessels, or deliver emergency aid.
Despite its simplicity, the design benefits from the high manufacturing standards of the Tyrant Shipyards. Its sensor suite is exceptionally refined for a vessel of its size, capable of tracking hundreds of objects simultaneously, an essential feature for precision interception and inspection work.
