Guild Events vs Personal Events

A Guild Event is any event which effectively has an open invitation. This does not mean the event needs to be suitable for everyone, nor that it cannot have any prerequisite to participate, it just mean it's generally accessible in some way. Some example of Guild Events are as follows:
  • A lesson in Djem So (Rank 1-2)
  • A mission to kill pirates led by a member of the Martial Domain.
  • A sorcery ritual where non-sorcerers are able to observe or contribute.
Even though not everyone may be able to participate in all of these events and there may be limited spots to join, they are open to anyone who can. And that is the key detail here, that it's an open invitation.

A Private Event (previously personal event) is any event which effectively has a pre-selected members and which is usually focused on some individual storyline or specific group.
  • A mission to acquire a cantina for someone's powerbase.
  • A private meeting.
  • A sorcery ritual where observers are not welcome.
As a rule of thumb, we would ask that when planning events, people always give priority to a Guild Event. This does not mean that you cannot plan a Private Event on the same day as a Guild Event, but if there is already a Guild Event posted for a given day, you should consider what impact your private event will have on the Guild Event.

If a Guild Event is asking for six to ten members, additional events on that day may diminish that first events success, and an event we can all participate in (to some degree) is better for the guild than private events. This isn't to say those private events have no value, only that as much as possible we want to play together as a guild first so we can have fun together.

We are not putting a hard rule in place, and we envision there will always be a lot of private events happening each week which is fine. We're just asking people consider what is best for the guild as a whole.

First Come, First Served

Similarly, if there are already other events posted for a given day (whether Guild or Private) we would ask that people consider the impact of them adding another event on that day. Priority should always be given to events already posted for that day and if someone needs to cancel their event it should be those who came last.

We fully understand scheduling is hard, people have lives and even other priorities in the guild to balance. But equally, we all want to play together as a guild and not have people feel they are having to compete with each other to get attendees, as that can lead to negativity between players.

Involve Others

One of the very best things you can do as a player is involve someone new in your private events. Although we appreciate from an in-character perspective, it may not make sense to do so, the power of involving someone new in your events should not be underestimated - it can create new relationships for your characters, encourage others to participate and generally elevate enthusiasm within the guild.

If you are always running events with the same circle of friends, consider how to involve someone new, maybe someone you'd not normally reach out to. Build something into the event which calls for your character to reach out to a new ally and watch the roleplay bloom!

And don't forget, you can invite Lords to join! Not all may join of course, but imagine as a young Sith having a Lord come with you on mission - if you impress that Lord it might open doors for their progression. And if nothing else, they can probably cut through your enemies!

Rest Day

We are cancelling the Rest Day until the end of the Campaign. People are now free to schedule events on Wednesday and encouraged to view it as a normal day. We would suggest that those whose characters are involved in planning aspects of the campaign use this day to do so.

Campaign Sundays

When it comes to organising larger events for the campaign, we are likely to use Sunday evenings for many of these. We would therefore ask that anyone who books an event on a Sunday is prepared to reschedule it if the need arises. Usually an event will be booked at least 3-4 days in advance, so if you don't see anything booked for a given Sunday by say Wednesday, you're likely free to use it.

To be clear not all campaign events will be on a Sunday. But we wanted to help shape the calendar for people planning things.
