“Observed physiological limitations of Dark Side Force Inspire on non-force sensitive sentients.”
Incipient Scorne B.

Abstract
In this research, limitations of Dark Side Force Inspire were looked for by setting up three experiments testing Stamina, Pain Tolerance and Survival. The subject of these tests was a 30 year old male slave. For Stamina, the amount of time he was able to keep up with an aggressively increasing running pace while under the effects of Inspire was measured. He reached 2 hours, 2 minutes and 58 seconds and the pace of 13.2 mph before failure, which was above the Imperial Standard and expectations. For Pain Tolerance, he was provided with a series of intelligence tests while subjected to increasing levels of pain. Here he performed 21 tasks before falling unconscious, this was below the Imperial Standard but around expectations. When it came to Survival, he passed through all three cages, reaching complete burnout at the Ironclaw Bruen. This was above expectations as the feeling of his burnout was able to be felt and recorded in detail. Utilising all the data gained, it was easy to showcase how while Inspire is able to assist some in deactivating their natural ‘safety switches’ it is unable to go against hard biological limitations, where the body is simply unable to continue. Like a metal beam snapping underweight. This research opens doors for further improvements and further research into what secrets of the Dark Side can help us conquer even those hardline limits in non-force sensitive sentients.

Preface
This is a paper following the research conducted through the recent months by Incipient Bryar Scorne in the powerbase of Darth Vehemen and the Zula Dominion of the Tharin Sector.
The purpose of it was to expand the local Archives’ knowledge of Force Inspire as well as provide further research in the subject for the wider reaches of the Empire.

Special thanks are to be given to Lord Leyrah Sendahl and Darth Vehemen for providing the resources and environment for this research to be conducted. Senior Sith Mara Virnasi is also to be thanked for assisting with answering some of the questions regarding Future Work.

Introduction
The Force allows us great insight within each being, be it their emotions via Sense or the way it moves around them with Sight. The ability to control it, to affect the very thing the being uses to run, the thing that pushes them from deep within, that is Inspire (Lord Envishire A.).

While considered by many to be a light-sided ability, the Dark Side only makes it more potent. By corrupting that hope many described feeling, it pushes the creature to its’ brink. It taps into the primordial evolutionary instinct of the ‘fight or flight’ response, heavily slanting the favour of fight, as the Sith way does (Lord Pinn’lu). It’s known to cause the being to completely surpass some of their own limitations placed there by their biology, causing them to be able to perform incredible feats, sustain injury and fuel their emotions.

By channelling the Dark Side within a creature with Inspire, you bring them closest they will possibly ever get to fighting with the Dark Side how a Sith does. For creatures that have never been able to experience that, like the Force blind, the effects can be incredibly potent.

However, Inspire can only push so much. It doesn’t empower one’s abilities; it only unlocks them. It breaks the chains placed there by evolution to keep the organism ‘safe’ and crosses the risk of injuries with reckless abandon. The breaking point of one’s biology are very much still present, and often the break that snaps and violently stops the spree.

The question this paper aims to find is, where does that limit exactly lie? and what secrets of the Force can help us surpass it?

Methodology
A non-force sensitive slave was acquired from Zenith Enterprises as the main subject of the study. The slave is a 30-year-old male human that passed the preliminary health checks, having no underlying health conditions that could affect the results. A human was chosen as it is the species with the most researched anatomies which provides us with a strong collection of background studies to use as a base for conclusions.

The study was setup in three parts to test various sections of sentient (in this case human) physiology: Stamina, Pain Tolerance and Survival.

To observe Stamina, a simple treadmill was setup with the subject being instructed to run as long as possible. After an hour, the treadmill would begin to ramp up in speed from the base speed of 7.0 mph by 0.1 mph every minute. The temperature and airflow within the room was also controlled to be stable, the subject was offered no hydration breaks but was properly hydrated before the beginning of the test. The length of the subject’s run was measured as well as his vitals which were recorded by the tracking device.

Pain Tolerance was measured approximately, recording how much pain the slave can tolerate until his cognitive abilities fail or consciousness gives out. It similarly started slowly, beginning with a needle pinprick and accelerated to bigger edges and larger cuts. The subject was presented with increasingly challenging cognitive tasks described in the Imperial standard for Intelligence tests: matrix reasoning, logic puzzles and vocal repetition of number sequences, for each he was given 3 minutes to solve. Failure to correctly solve a puzzle or loss of consciousness signified the end of the experiment.

Lastly, for Survival, the point of interest was how far the subject will be able to be pushed against instinct to not face death. The subject was taken to Yankun and placed in front of 3 cages with animals in this order: Obsidian Prowler, Nightstalker Lynox and an Ironclaw Bruen. He was then pushed to enter each cage and survive, lest he did not want to be executed. Each animal was starved for days prior to assure they would seek to hunt him. If the animal backed away from him the test would be stopped and he would be allowed to pass into the next cage.

With each of these 3 tests, the examiner Bryar Scorne would be influencing him with her own level of Inspire for the full length.

Results
Stamina
The subject was able to run for 2 hours, 2 minutes and 58 seconds reaching the pace of 13.2 mph before failure.

The observer notes were as follows:
00:23:42 – “Subject is keeping good pace, if not speeding over it. His focus seems to be on the wall ahead and the blaze I feel from him is scorching.”
01:14:19 – “Pace has significantly slowed; he’s barely keeping up. This was much earlier than I imagined, all that fire is completely gone now, only a sustaining flame lingers.”
01:48:36 – “Subject continues despite muscular damage. Foot coordination has deteriorated. Stumbles are repeated. “
02:02:58 – “Subject has collapsed, marking the end of the experiment. It would seem his ligaments have been torn. There doesn’t seem to be any visible signs of pain, possibly due to the lack of energy.”

Pain Tolerance
Subject was able to complete 21 tasks before loss of consciousness. For a man his age, the expected Imperial Standard is 25 tasks.

Observer note: “His eyes flickered as they tried to understand the task ahead of him. I could feel his consciousness slipping, yet something still refused to stop running. Clearly not strongly enough.”

Survival
The slave entered all three cages despite sustaining injuries and his instinct telling him not to. He lasted 4 minutes and 37 seconds with the Ironclaw Bruen before succumbing to injuries, requiring resuscitation.

Observer note: “The fear within him was clear, even when faced only with the Obsidian Prowler. However, once his fire was made into a blaze, it fell to the wayside. It smelled of beautiful burnt amber and timber, of the crisp crackle of fresh wood thrown into the fire. By the time he made it to the Bruen, all I could smell was ash and coal.”

Conclusion
Based on the Stamina test, it is clear that Inspire has a noticeable effect on the body’s pure physical ability. This likely being due to it turning off the ‘safety switches’ all organisms integrally have. The subject performed far above the Imperial average and even more than originally expected. It was unsurprising that he was able to push through the exhaustion with such a surge of the Dark Side flowing through his system. Interestingly enough, it was observed that the subject drained a lot of his energy on a very strong start. Possibly due to the intoxicating feeling of power her was experiencing. If he was able to temper it and control it, it’s possible he would’ve been able to achieve better results. By the end of the experiment, every single bit of energy was used up. This showcases that, while Inspire gave the feeling of incredible power and unlocked the ability to continue pushing through exhaustion, it still failed when his biology failed, unable to go against it.

When it came to the Pain Tolerance, he performed noticeably worse than the Imperial Standard. That exact result is inconclusive as he lost consciousness, leaving up room for multiple further successful tasks. However, this illustrates that Inspire has little to no effect on a sentient’s cognitive abilities. Perhaps only helping with even attempting to solve the tasks while exposed to so much pain. His brain still fought while he was nearing his biological limit, an incredible observation that should be further looked at.

Lastly, the Survival test. Even though his instincts were blaring at him not to enter those cages, his fear of death and innate need for survival was only exacerbated by the Inspire. This ended up easily pushing him into those encounters, fighting tooth and nail against the attacking beasts. His emotions were running high, an intoxicating display. However, the exact point of total exhaustion of his biological system was able to be felt and observed in the Ironclaw Bruen cage. His body exhausted every single resource it had, turning him into naught but a husk. The result was certainly expected; however it came later than originally hypothesized.

Future Work
In the future, this experiment should be expanded to include a larger sample size of subjects, an observer with a higher level of expertise in Inspire and a baseline recorded ahead of time.

What I’m most interested in is how can those biological limits be surpassed, those evolutionary chains. I hope that I’ll be able to study the secrets of Force Heal in the future, because I seek to be able to understand the two, to be able to bolster and command both the psyche and the body. It is similarly thought of as light-sided ability, however it is fuelled by the pure desire to conquer death and those physiological shackles that bind us (Sith Virnasi M.)

A repeat of this experiment would only be the start, curious on how the results will change. How much will they improve? Does the ability to conquer such boundaries set by nature also have its limits, and where do they lie? All of these are questions that I seek to find.
